Wye Valley Volunteers
Need help with getting to the doctor's? Feeling lonely? Finding it difficult to get to the shops? Have some spare time and would like something interesting and rewarding to do? Answer yes to any of these and Wye Valley Volunteers (WVV) could well be the organisation to call.
Bourne End Good Neighbours began life over 30 years ago and then merged with the Volunteer Bureau that was subsequently set up to form WVV. Many of the objectives (basically to help those in need in the local community) and services remain unchanged. WVV runs a Transport Service in which voluntary drivers take clients to medical and other appointments, a Home Care Service which offers home visits and befriending plus practical help such as shopping and dog walking, weekly coffee mornings and a monthly Luncheon Club for the elderly, and a Community minibus for transport to some of these activities.
Providing all these services are over a hundred volunteers; most of them find working for the organisation very fulfilling and the source of many long term friendships. If you are in need of help and would like to find out more about the services, or if you would like to discuss volunteering opportunities, do call WVV on 01628 521027 or call in at the Community Volunteer Office, Wakeman Road, Bourne End (Portakabin next to Bourne End Community Centre) between 10am and noon any weekday.
WVV gratefully acknowledges the generous funding provided by Wooburn and Bourne End Parish Council and by Bucks County Council. All other essential funding is provided by local donations.
