With spirits running high, we all enjoyed an exceptional turnout to our Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon Lighting celebration at Wooburn Park.
Residents from all over the Parish and beyond joined us to enjoy a quintessentially British 'Mini Cooper bar' serving Pimm's, craft beers and juices; Barbarian Grill who provided mouth-watering burgers and hotdogs; plus, MD Ices for ice creams and lollies!
There was a Jubilee themed colouring competition for the kids, free 'corgi cake' and the official Jubilee tarts, which just about lasted the first hour of the event - this was all before we kicked off the official celebration with the Proclamation by the Chairman, Pipe Major Donald Reid playing Diu Regnare, then the Sappers' Singers Choir who performed Song for the Commonwealth and three other songs.
Following all this of course was the official lighting of the Beacon, and with close to 1,000 attendees watching as it was lit, we really felt part of something special.
Thank you, ma'am.
